About

An independent editorial index, written by hand and kept deliberately short.

Blue Horizon Link is a small reference site about four kinds of hotel: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. It exists because these four categories are badly served by the usual hotel writing — either reduced to a list of amenities, or inflated into travel-magazine prose that never quite says what a night in the building is like.

How entries are chosen

Every property named here is a real, operating hotel. Selection is editorial: a property earns a place by being a clear, well-run example of its category rather than by paying for one. We keep each chapter short on purpose. A list of four or five hotels that have been thought about is more useful than a list of forty that have not.

How entries are written

Each entry is flowing prose — no specification tables, no key-value grids, no scores. We describe the building, the stay and the trade-off each hotel asks a guest to accept. We keep to facts that are stable and true to character, and avoid precise numbers that go out of date the week after they are published. Where a detail changes with the season or the year, we say so and send you to the property.

What this site is not

  • Not a booking service. There is no reservation system here and no cart.
  • Not a review site. We publish no star ratings, no scores and no guest quotes, invented or otherwise.
  • Not an agent. We hold no commercial relationship with any property described.
  • Not country-specific. The index is geographically neutral and follows the hotels, not a region.

Corrections

Hotels change hands, rebuild, close for a season and reopen differently. If something here is out of date or wrong, write to us and we will check it and amend the entry. The contact page explains how.
